Dear friends, I just wanted to let people know of my new book, now out in bookstores. After the Storm: Stories on Ondoy is a collection of stories, essays, and photos that I curated, published by Anvil. It’s been a year since Ondoy, but there’s still a lot of people who have not fully recovered from it; hopefully this book, the proceeds of which will go to community rebuilding efforts, will help out in some way. The book is now available in bookstores, and during the Manila International Book Fair at the Anvil Publishing booth. I’ll also have a book signing session there on Saturday, 6pm onwards, to help spread the word about the book. SRPrice is Php175.
The pieces in After the Storm were mostly written in the midst of and immediately after the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng in 2009. The writers share their experiences of the typhoons, their insights and reflections, their hopes and aspirations. Long after the news media has moved on to the next big headline, After the Storm hopes to stand as a written record to remind everyone that this happened. We were there.
We are still here. Thanks so much to all the contributors: MRR Arcega, Tania Arpa, Javi Bengzon, benign0, Luis Buenaventura II, Arvin de Leon, Ruey de Vera, Zarah Gagatiga, Cathy Guballa, Ramil Digal Gulle, Rene Javellana, S.J., Norman Lasam, Gabby Lee, MXV Ong, Jim Paredes, Mar Roxas, Stefan Suarez, Fidelis Tan, Martin Villanueva, Larry Ypil, Kaye Arevalo, Jake de Jesus, Doranne Lim, Ichan Nuestro, and JM Quiblat!
